• “This book shows you how to do a lot of those things around the house we all think we might not be able to do. A section that I love, which is close to my heart, is ‘decorating by mood’, because I believe that when you decorate a space, rather than thinking of a vibe, you should think of a mood. Because when you imagine a mood like cocooning, or sanctuary, you just get the most compelling interiors.”

●•Abigail Ahern, Interior Designer and Guest Judge for Interior Design Masters

  • “As an established stylist, interiors expert and author, Joanna Thornhill knows a thing or two about home design. In her latest book, Interior Design Masters, she is accompanied by the contestants and judges from BBC One's interiors competition series to deliver invaluable advice on making the most of your home. This beginner's guide includes everything from creating a brief and a moodboard to design styles and how to interpret them. Beautiful imagery and sketches are enhanced by tips and quotes from the show's expert judges, including Michelle Ogundehin, Abigail Ahern and Matthew Williamson.”

  • “Joanna deserves a medal - she’s put everything in here: there’s colour theory, planning, layout, lighting and styling, signature style, fabrics, patterns, fireplaces, flooring, moodboarding… treat it like a dictionary and she will answer your question. And what's really lovely is there's loads of quotes from [head judge] Michelle, the guest judges and the contestants all giving their pearls of wisdom, and I think that's what’s really at the heart of this book and of the show... creating a really inclusive space, opening our arms out and including everybody into the world of interior design. So with that in mind, wherever you are on your interior design journey - whether you’re just starting out, if you’re a renter, if you want to be a stylist, if you want to take it professionally - you will find something for you in this book.”

  • "Thoughtful, conscientious, informative, easy to follow and with a really friendly tone - thank you so so much for making us all look so so good!"

As a life-long fan of tv makeover shows, getting commissioned to write and produce the official companion book to the hit bbc1 tv series, interior design masters, was a real pinch-me moment.

Conveying the spirit and essence of the show while also working as a standalone interiors bible, this book contains plenty to please both ardent fans of the series and curious passers-by keen to pick up some design tips.

Featuring gorgeous illustrations from the show’s many sets (created especially by the talented Charlotte Orr), it talks in depth about the whole design process, and is liberally peppered with quotes, tips and how-to projects from the design contestants across all four series, along with insights from the guest judges and, of course, its brilliant Head Judge, Michelle Ogundehin.

Released under Quadrille, it was published on 2nd March 2023.
