Relatable, informed copy for brands and editorial
Writing isn’t usually just about writing when the topic is design: as images are usually integral to the stories being told, often my commissions are based around image sourcing and format development just as much as penning the words themselves.
I’ve been producing written content for brands, books and magazines over the last two decades, from ‘get the looks’ and shopping pages to in-depth articles centred around specific topics and multi-post article series and pull-out mini-guides.
I pride myself on researching my topics in forensic detail (internet rabbit holes are where I often reside), and I always like to dig a little deeper into designs, exploring the emotional connection between how certain colours, textures or objects make us feel a certain way - and in turn, how readers can utilise this to create their perfect-for-them dream space.
After two decades in the business, I have a bulging Little Black Book of press and brand contacts, allowing me to quickly turn a brief around and pack it with high quality lifestyle or cut-out images (alongside those all-important credits and permissions). My experiences of writing, producing and editing six interiors books means I have a good grasp of the bigger picture and can manage - or work alongside - small teams to produce content across a broader scope.
With eyes on both the macro and micro, I work hard to ensure my features are cohesive, informative and hopefully a little entertaining, too.
